Julia Obertreis died on 11 October 2023.

Prof. Dr. Julia Obertreis, a contemporary and Eastern European historian from Erlangen, had been a partner in our joint DFG project since 2020. At her chair, the Oral-History.Digital research environment developed in the project was and is being systematically tested and put to the test in practice with a pilot study on the life-historical processing of migration experiences.

With her methodological expertise and her clever and critically committed view, Julia Obertreis was an important member of our interdisciplinary team despite her illness. We still spoke to each other at the Leipzig Historians' Conference in September.
We miss her.
